Whenever you travel to a new city I always expect it to be drastically different from other cities I've traveled to. On the drive from the airport to the city I noticed how everything was so spread out, there were no mountains hugging the neighborhoods and the houses just looked so majestic and large. Once I saw the gleaming and erect buildings in the distance the excitement of the girls weekend set in! The refreshing crisp air inside of the Downtown Magnolia Hotel was a very welcoming feeling after spending just seconds outside hopping from the car and walking inside. It didn't take me long to notice the history that was in this building!
After a flight and waiting around in the heat it was such a relief to get to the room for a mid day nap! The room itself was very spacious and open perf...
Another day another palm tree. It was about time for my sister and I to take a dedicated sisters trip to LA. We booked our flights about 5 days before we decided to go and really made the best out of our last minute trip. One of my favorite places to stay when we are visiting LA is the Aloft El Segundo. This hotel has the best location, it is so close to the airport, beach, and West Hollywood area so getting around is really easy! Every time I've stayed here its been a wonderful experience and it continues to impress every time!
Once we picked up our rental car from the airport we headed straight to Whole Foods because neither of us had eaten all day. Once we got some much needed fuel we headed off to get some spray tans. I have gotten spray tans before and I have never had a bad experienc...
Whenever I travel I typically don't dress up to get on a plane, more likely than not I will be in yoga pants and a comfy sweater on the daily. For my latest trip to New York I wanted to incorporate the chic vibe of the city, the more tailored and professional side with something comfy for walking around in.
I paired my tailored black coat, with a structured fit with my casual activewear. Some may not like this look but I felt like it combined the two worlds together quite nicely, seeing as the jacket was black it was just a neutral addition to this already neutral look.
My sweater is from Brandy Melville and was quite fitting seeing as it has the text New York embroidered onto the front. I have been loving the color blush lately and this sweater is the p...
Before this recent trip into the city I did not know there was such a thing as a residential hotel. I have always stayed at a traditional hotel that gives you the bare necessities: a bed, bathroom and sometimes a complementary continental breakfast. Q&A Hotel was a completely different experience.
Upon entering the building which was built in 1932 I instantly noticed the classic Art Deco details throughout, reminding me of the history of the city. I loved that the building shared residential spaces with the hotel, making it feel like you are experiencing the city like a local. The hotel has 132 rooms and the average stay for a guest is about 4-5 days. Seeing as the building is located downtown the clientele more often than not stays during the week so the weekends are a less popular t...
I have never been to New York during the craze of Fashion Week which takes over the city twice a year. It took a while to get there, this time around I was traveling with my lovely instagram boyfriend and gal pal who actually had never been to New York before this. Our red eye flight got cancelled late the night before we were supposed to leave because of a bird flying into the engine. (What are the odds, right?) So the next morning with about 5 hours of sleep we headed to the airport for round two of making it to the Big Apple. The forecast for the week was rain with a 100% chance of torrential downpours.
With the time change we got into the city around 7pm and immediately grabbed a car and headed towards the city!
Every year when my birthday comes around I am excited but I am not really someone who plans ahead. I had no plans for my birthday the week before but as the week progressed I had some ideas and knew that I wanted to actually do something to celebrate. I have always seen the word staycation occasionally and thought to myself that it would be fun to not have all my friends over at my house but at a hotel that is centrally located downtown close to all of the bars and nightlife.
Growing up in Reno I knew that I wouldn’t want to do this in a hotel that was also a casino. Since the Reno Renaissance hotel opened its doors that has been my go to recommendation for friends and family who want to know where to stay when they come to the Reno area. So naturally I decided that I wanted to do it there...
Stepping into this building was like walking into heaven, the architecture which slightly resembles the spine of a giant dinosaur was breathtaking. This building is not only a mall but also the new subway entrance.
During the holiday season the main floor which is usually empty is full of little vendors.
There is also a really cool modern Christmas tree erected in the center of the floor which changes colors. Around the bottom level floor there is a lot of other fun walls set up for people to take photos in front of.
Its location is adjacent to the new Twin Tower memorial and is worth a visit if you are right next door visiting.
Christmas in New York City is one of the most magical experiences you can have and if you have the opportunity to go you should definitely make the trip. I have been to NYC once before and it was during the summer so this was a completely different experience for me. It was frigid cold so layers and outerwear were a must.
The first day we got there we focused on getting to our hotel, unpacking and getting a quick nap in before exploring for the rest of the night. We stayed at The Dominick in Soho, it was a great location, just a couple of blocks away from all of the shops and dining in the Soho area and also one block away from the nearest subway station which made getting up and down town a breeze!
To make getting around easy we bought 7 day unlimited subway passes which came in hand...
